The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) with the approval of Batangas City’s Local Government Unit (LGU) will now allow some teams to conduct their respective training camps.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial confirmed that Batangas City Mayor Beverley Dimacucha and 5th District Representative Marvey Marino granted their request to push through with Batangas as a venue where some teams can already resume their practice.

Once the health and safety protocols will be finalized, the Batangas City Coliseum and the Batangas State University Gym will be made available for the big league.

“Okay na ang LGU (local government unit). JAO (Joint Administrative Order from the Department of Health, Games and Amusements Board, and Philippine Sports Commission) na lang, and maybe our teams can start practices middle of May,” said Marcial.

Commissioner Marcial added that the league is looking at six to seven teams to be fielded in Batangas with the others still undecided.

However, some teams also made recommendations and expressed their desire of forming a separate training camp in Laoag.

It will still all boil down to the COVID-19 situation of the desired venues which is still taken into consideration by GAB chairman Abraham Mitra.

“Chairman Baham said he will review the protocols and guidelines for each of the different quarantine levels,” shared Marcial.
