BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office has intensified its security operations as summer vacation begins, anticipating increased public movement and numerous events.
Police said an influx of overseas Filipino workers returning home, especially during Holy Week from April 13 to 20, is expected.
Events such as Philippine Veterans Week, Araw ng Kagitingan, Labor Day, and Flores de Mayo are also expected to draw large crowds.
Festas and local celebrations may cause road congestion and crowding in transport hubs, seaports, airports, and terminals.
Authorities also expect a rise in local and foreign tourists at beaches, hotels, mountain resorts, and other destinations.
Given these circumstances, police said the threat of criminal activity cannot be ruled out.
The BCPO is ramping up proactive patrols and law enforcement coordination to deter lawless elements.
Security personnel have been strategically deployed in cooperation with other agencies to prevent incidents.
With the midterm elections approaching, police are also intensifying operations to maintain peace and order.
The public is urged to remain vigilant and work with authorities to ensure a safe summer season.
