BACOLOD City – Police Colonel Noel Aliño, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said that he will be introducing a different strategy to intensify anti-illegal drugs operations here.

But Aliño did not elaborate on the new strategy since he just met the 10 station commanders here in their first official command conference at the BCPO headquarters yesterday.

In a media interview yesterday, Aliño said the BCPO has a target output or quota policy when it comes to anti-drug operations.

He said that he will have to assess the policy first to determine what strategy would be good.

Aliño emphasized quality rather than quantity.

“Iyong quota system, mahirap kasi iyon. Gagawin mo na lahat. Minsan sosobra pa doon sa quota, so paano naman iyong dapat na huhulihin sana?,” he asked.

While he is not against the idea of requiring quotas in anti-drug operations, Aliño noted that the system could fall to mere compliance.

“Minsan nagiging for compliance lang. Pangit po iyon,” he said.

Aliño stressed that everybody’s goal is to have a drug-free place.

“Kung walang droga, walang krimen,” he said.

He said that he will check the performance of the station commanders to determine if they will stay or be replaced in their current designation.

Meanwhile, two persons were arrested by police in separate buy-bust operations here that resulted in the confiscation of P333,200 worth of suspected shabu on April 19 and 20.

Last Wednesday, Romar Espinosa, 31, of Barangay 13 here, was apprehended in the said village after police seized from him 20 grams of suspected shabu worth P272,000, and the P500 marked money.

The following day, Romel Nobleza, 34, of Barangay Vista Alegre here was also arrested in the said barangay for the recovery of P61,200 worth of suspected shabu.

Espinosa and Nobleza are detained at Police Stations 1 and 7, respectively.
