BDO Foundation enhances healthcare in Iloilo, benefits 220,000

BDO Foundation turns over four rehabilitated rural health units (RHUs) located in four municipalities in Iloilo province, benefitting over 220,000 residents in 160 barangays.

The BDO Foundation (BDOF) has successfully completed the rehabilitation of rural health units (RHUs) across four municipalities in Iloilo province, positively impacting over 220,000 residents across 160 barangays.

The initiative is part of the foundation’s sustained efforts to enhance the country’s basic healthcare delivery system.

The renovated facilities include the Carles Primary Care Facility, Sara Municipal Primary Care Facility, Ajuy Primary Care Facility, and Alimodian Rural Health Unit and Birthing Facility.

These centers have been upgraded to provide improved healthcare services to the local communities, focusing on primary and maternal health.

“With improved primary healthcare facilities now available, residents can access quality medical services closer to home, thereby mitigating barriers to healthcare and promoting overall well-being,” BDOF Presient Mario A. Deriquito said.

The refurbishment involved structural enhancements to waiting areas, offices, clinics, consultation and treatment rooms, and birthing facilities. Additionally, new signages, furniture, and fixtures were installed to ensure comfort and convenience for both health workers and patients.

Since 2012, BDOF has rehabilitated 178 RHUs, with 19 located in Iloilo.

“More are in the pipeline. These efforts are our contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goal no. 3, which is to ensure healthy lives and promote the well-being of all people of all ages,” Deriquito added.
