Bercilla speaks at EU-Indo-Pacific high-level climate change webinar

Assistant Professor Jessica-Dator Bercilla, a faculty member of the Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences of UPV Visayas, participated in the two-day European Union (EU)–Indo Pacific High Level Virtual Conference: Cooperating towards a successful outcome at COP 26 on Oct 7-8, 2021.

The event sought to enable high-level engagement between the EU and its Indo-Pacific allies to exchange views on climate change in the run-up to COP-26, a global climate summit, in Glasgow on Nov 1-12, 2021.

Bercilla was invited by EU Ambassador to the Philippines Luc Véron to speak as representative from the civil society upon the recommendation of the national network of civil society organizations on climate change, Aksyon Klima, in the Indo-Pacific region on the second day of the webinar, Oct 8.

Bercilla joined the virtual civil society panel discussion to share her views on the lessons learned and the success stories in mainstreaming adaptation in development planning. The panel discussion was also participated by representatives from media, business community, academia, and non-government organizations in the Indo-Pacific region.
