A motorcycle driver was killed in a road mishap late Sunday afternoon in Zarraga, Iloilo.
Hesekiah Sombong, 20, a resident of Q. Abeto St., Mandurriao, Iloilo City, instantly died after he got sideswiped by a truck.
Lieutenant Johnny Arnad, Zarraga police officer-in-charge, said Sombong and the truck were both heading towards Bangga Bante, Zarraga.
Truck driver James Edlang, 27, of Barangay Cano-an, Estancia, Iloilo, allegedly tried to overtake the motorcycle.
Sombong could not give way to the 10-wheeler towards the right portion of the road as he will plow into parked vehicles.
The truck eventually sideswiped the motorcycle’s left throttle grip, resulting in Sombong losing control of the motorcycle and was thrown off his seat. Worse, he slammed into the truck’s left rear tire.
Arnad said the victim was with his two friends who are on separate motorcycles when the incident happened. They were on their way to Anilao town.
Edang is now detained in Zarraga.
