Binhi sang Paglaum, a community-focused organization dedicated to nurturing the potential of children, hosted the “Pasalamat Bulig Balik” tree planting and outreach program on July 14 at Barangay Damires, New Lucena, Iloilo.

Rogina Chua, the founder of Binhi sang Paglaum, shared that 100 fruit-bearing trees, provided by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of New Lucena with support from local government units (LGUs), were planted.

“We need everyone’s support to nurture our children. That’s why we conduct this tree planting activity. We plant fruit-bearing and sometimes mangrove trees. These trees symbolize our commitment to safeguarding our youth and acknowledging their rights to survival and ecological well-being. By planting these trees, we ensure that future generations will reap the benefits of our efforts,” Chua said.

In addition to tree planting, the event catered to 70 daycare and kindergarten children by distributing essential items, including school supplies, hygiene kits, vitamins, clothing, and shoes.

Interactive activities such as storytelling, feeding programs, and engaging games were also incorporated to ensure a holistic experience for the children, promoting both enjoyment and learning.

Vice Mayor Isabelo Mana-ay Acollador, who graced the activity, expressed gratitude for the initiative’s positive impact on the barangay.

“This program is truly a privilege for the municipality of New Lucena, especially Barangay Damires, bringing well-being to our residents. These activities align perfectly with our commitment to environmental conservation and nurturing our children,” Acollador remarked.

Barangay Captain Roland Huesca extended his appreciation on behalf of the entire barangay, emphasizing the importance of community-driven initiatives in fostering a nurturing environment for children.

Founded with a vision to empower children and promote environmental stewardship, Binhi sang Paglaum has rapidly grown since its inception in 2022.

“By making pathways, we reached out to other interested organizations eager to contribute to community welfare,” explained Chua. “Our core activities include quarterly tree planting and outreach programs. Depending on sponsorships, we’ve been able to enhance local daycare centers, all with the ultimate goal of benefiting the children,” she added.

The recent initiative saw the participation of different organizations, including Lions International Club, Soap Cycling Philippines, Federation of Bantay Bata Visayas Region Inc., Accentline, Blueink, Rubo-Rubo Lang, Philippine Call Center Credit Cooperative, and more.

Binhi sang Paglaum continues to invite support from the community and organizations alike to further its mission of nurturing children and promoting sustainable practices for future generations.
