Leaders from the Cooperative Sector, together with Hon. Felimon M. Espares, Representative of the COOP NATCCO Partylist and Chairman of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges of the House of Representatives paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Internal Revenue Romeo D. Lumagui, Jr. this morning.
The courtesy visit included a meet and greet, discussion of tax privileges, monitoring of taxes, and the direction of the BIR as regards the Cooperative Sector of the Philippines.
Rep. Espares assured Commissioner Lumagui of the full support of the Cooperative Sector in its tax compliance. The sector will work hand-in-hand with the BIR, for the betterment of the lives of the Filipino people.
In his speech, Commissioner Lumagui highlighted the commitment of the BIR towards Service Excellence, and Integrity and Transparency in public service. Commissioner Lumagui also recognized the importance of the Cooperative Sector to the Filipino people. He reiterated the 2023 battle cry of the BIR, “Tulong-tulong sa Pagbangon, Kapit Kamay sa Pag-ahon”, emphasizing his call for love of country.
“We (BIR) are not here to find mistakes, we are not here to penalize you, we are here to help you and assist you with the tax compliance”, Commissioner Lumagui added.
Commissioner Lumagui also mentioned the reconstitution of a Technical Working Group that is geared towards providing assistance to the Cooperative Sector.
