Fourth district Rep. Ferjenel “Dr. Ferj” Biron is considering running for reelection in the 2025 midterm election, though he noted that his plans could change depending on shifts in the political landscape.

“We are quiet, so I believe we have to go for reelection in our district unless there are sudden changes in the political situation. As it is right now, I am thinking of running for reelection,” Biron said in an interview.

Biron is currently in his first term as the representative of Iloilo’s fourth district. He ran under the Nacionalista Party (NP), the country’s oldest political party, in the 2022 national and local elections.

When asked if he will leave NP, Biron emphasized that he remains the provincial chairman of the NP and has “no reason to leave the party.”

He also did not rule out NP’s possible alliance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) for the midterm elections.

“I think that is happening soon. I think we will anticipate all major political parties joining in a coalition right now to have an alliance with the PFP. I think it’s only a matter of time before the Nacionalista forms an alliance with the PFP,” he said.

He noted that in 2022, the NP had endorsed Marcos Jr. for president.

“As you know, since 2022 when the president ran, we campaigned hard for the president. That was the instruction of the party leadership,” he said.

Biron was the campaign manager for Marcos’ Uniteam in Iloilo, where he claimed that all government officials in the 4th district supported Marcos’ presidential bid.

In August 2022, Biron was appointed to the House contingent of the Commission on Appointments, which has a say on who sits in the administration as they can confirm or reject appointments made by the President.
