BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-6 is waiting for the result of the investigation on five jail guards who were on duty during the jail break at Negros Occidental District Jail (NODJ) in Bago City on June 29, 2021.

Atty. Jairus Anthony Dogelio, BJMP-6 spokesperson, said the five jail officers are still rendering duties at the facility since there are no available replacement as of this time.

“Probably next week pa may mabulos because may quarantine pa,” he added.

Dogelio said the replacement need to undergo quarantine before they are transferred to the jail facility.

Dogelio said he could not say yet if there were indeed lapses on the part of the personnel when five high-risk persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) bolted from their detention cell last month.

“We’ll just have to wait on the findings of the investigation,” he added.

Marvin Celeste and his brother Danilo, both residents of Victorias City, were killed by authorities after they reportedly resisted arrest during a manhunt operation in Murcia town and Talisay City two weeks ago.

Daniel Tamon of Don Salvador Benedicto town, was recaptured by authorities in Murcia town on June 30.

Francisco Epogon of Cauayan town, and Alejandro Montoya of Victorias City are still at large.

Dogelio said the tracking team and the police continue to monitor the two escapees.

“May mga information man pero pag abot gaka sunog because probably may mga lookout man sila na gahaboy sa ila impormasyon,” he added.

Dogelio said the two remaining escapees are just hiding in the province, as they will have difficulty to escape from authorities in checkpoint operations.

Dogelio said the tracking team will have to make new strategies and change its plan and personnel to continue the manhunt against them.

“Asta buwas (July 13) na lang ang existing tracking team, they will have to regroup and plan out new strategies for the arrest of the remaining escapees,” he added.
