The second most ranking officer of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 6 (BJMP-6) died after reportedly suffering from cardiac arrest evening of April 29, 2021.
Family members rushed Jail Senior Superintendent Gilbert Peremne to Metro Iloilo Hospital and Medical Center in Jaro, Iloilo City after he complained of chest pain. But he was declared dead on arrival past 10 p.m. Thursday.
Peremne was BJMP-6’s deputy regional director for administrator and also acted as the agency’s spokesperson.
Peremne’s death came six days after his younger brother, Glenn, was murdered in Molo, Iloilo City.
The 42-year-old Glenn of Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo district, was driving his motorcycle when he was shot by riding-in-tandem gunmen at Zone 5, Barangay San Juan, Molo.
Glenn was the health and sanitation officer of the Iloilo Fishport Complex. His death remains unsolved as of this writing, although authorities are looking into his work as possible motive.
The Peremne family believed that Gilbert may have been affected by Glenn’s death.
Peremne’s daughter, Police Corporal Rara Peremne, confirmed that her father was greatly affected by what happened to her uncle.
