The Blackwater Bossing franchise is looking to turn around its disappointing start in the PBA Governor’s Cup after finding a new import that will replace Ricky Ledo.
Ledo, who was sub-par during the first two games of Blackwater that led them to quick back-to-back losses, will be replaced by former NBA talent George King who might debut for the Bossing on August 30, 2024, against Justin Brownlee and the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
Multiple sources already confirmed King’s arrival in the Philippines before Friday and will only have a limited window of training camp with his teammates before making his PBA debut.
Initially, it was former San Miguel Beermen reinforcement Cameron Clark who was eyed by Blackwater but due to exterior factors, the bruising power forward didn’t commit to the Bossing, which led to King’s signing.
King was a former 59th overall pick in the NBA by the Phoenix Suns last 2018 and also had brief stints with the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers.
However, the versatile forward didn’t earn consistent minutes in the NBA and had to jump ships from the G League to several overseas stints.
After a failed NBA campaign, King decided to take his talents to Australia, Israel, Italy, Poland, and Germany.
King was widely known in the import scene as a deadly catch-and-shoot type of player and was also a lethal spot-up scorer on the perimeter.
With the PBA now innovating their league with the introduction of the four-point line, Blackwater might have found a sniper that can help them buy a bucket from way downtown.
As of now, Blackwater is yet to enter the PBA winning column and lost all of their games against Rain or Shine, NLEX, and San Miguel.
