Finally, Manny V. Pangilinan got what he wanted after two years in the making.
League sources confirmed that the Blackwater Elite is trading former number two pick and superstar Bobby Ray Parks to the TNT Katropa in exchange for Don Trollano, Anthony Semerad, and two future first-round picks.
The move surprised and shocked the majority of the PBA and basketball community as Parks was considered a vital piece in Blackwater’s campaign for a title.
Indeed, Parks lived up to the expectations and the hype as soon as he entered the league. Having an astonishing rookie year and leading the Elite to a second-place finish that eventually fell in the quarterfinals.
As for Pangilinan, just hours after Parks was drafted, MVP and the Meralco Bolts proposed a trade for Parks in exchange for multiple players, but the deal fell through and eventually sidelined.
With Parks’ addition to the TNT squad, the team is again squarely in the conversation for a title with Jayson Castro, Roger Pogoy, and Troy Rosario playing well this season, MVP might get his well-sought championship after a year of waiting.
