BACOLOD CITY – Police Station 2 personnel are coordinating with other police stations in Bacolod and Negros Occidental to help identify the body of a man found floating near the seawall at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, on Tuesday night.

Police Major Eugene Tolentino, head of Police Station 2, said the victim was wrapped in a sack, with both legs and hands hogtied using a rope and a sleeveless shirt and straw.

The man’s ears appeared severed or possibly injured by sharp objects at the seawall, Tolentino noted.

Tolentino said passersby first saw the body that morning but assumed it was trash and paid little attention. Later in the afternoon, another set of passersby spotted the body again and reported it to authorities.

The victim had a gunshot wound in the back, with the bullet exiting through his chest, along with other scratches on his body.

Tolentino suspects the man was dumped in the area, which is secluded and distant from houses, as no gunshots were reported by nearby residents.

He said identifying the victim is crucial to uncovering his background and establishing a possible motive and identifying suspects.
