Brothers, kin fall in drug sting

By Jennifer P. Rendon

Three family members were arrested during a police anti-illegal drug operation evening of January 5 at Molo, Iloilo City.

Police identified the suspects as brothers Alvaro Ignacio, 45, and Arnold Ignacio, and Alvaro’s son, 22-year-old Israel Ignacio. All are residents of Zone 5, Barangay Boulevard, Molo.

Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 4 arrested the suspects after they allegedly connived in selling a sachet of suspected shabu worth P6,000 to a police poseur buyer.

Recovered from the suspects were the marked money, three sachets of suspected shabu, and a motorcycle.

Major Marlyn Roquero, ICPS4 chief, said all three suspects are considered street-level suspects.

They were never arrested for any offense before, but Alvaro and Arnold surrendered through Oplan Tokhang a few years back. They were also able to finish their community-based rehabilitation program.

Reports indicated that the suspects drew their drug supply from a source in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district.

The three Ignacios are now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
