Brothers stab neighbor over noisy chainsaw

TWO brothers allegedly connived in stabbing their neighbor in Tubungan, Iloilo afternoon of July 20, 2019.

Police identified the suspects as Jones and Jonald Ellama, residents of Barangay Igpaho.

They fled after stabbing 48-year-old Nelson Calibayan, who resides next to their home.

Police Captain Eleazar Climacosa, Tubungan police chief, said the two suspects were turned over to the police station by their village chief.

Both the Ellama brothers and Calibayan were drunk when the incident happened.

In fact, they were drinking liquor together in a birthday party at the Ellama residence.

Almost an hour before the stabbing occurred, the victim decided to go home. He was reportedly fixing his chainsaw when the two brothers arrived.

Without a word, Jonald stabbed the victim on his abdomen.

He was brought to Guimbal District Hospital and later transferred to Western Visayas Medical Center.

“According to the suspect, the chainsaw was creating noise,” Climacosa said.

The suspects apparently believed that the suspect may have turned on the chainsaw to deliberately spite them, considering that they were enjoying a videoke session.

The Ellama brothers are now detained while charges against them are being readied for filing.
