BSP endorses new eTravel customs system

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has announced its support for the rollout of the eTravel Customs System across all international airports in the Philippines.

The system aims to streamline the customs process by enabling travelers to fill out the electronic Customs Baggage Declaration Form (e-CBDF) and the electronic Currencies Declaration Form (e-CDF) via the eTravel website or the eGovPH application within 72 hours before arriving or departing the Philippines.

The BSP also reminds the public of the strict rules regarding cross-border currency transfers, as outlined in the Manual of Regulations on Foreign Exchange Transactions (FX Manual).

“Any person bringing into or taking out of the Philippines foreign currency in excess of USD10,000, or its equivalent in other foreign currencies, must declare the total amount using the e-CDF,” the BSP stated.

For Philippine currency, the limit is PHP50,000.

Amounts exceeding this require prior authorization from the BSP and must also be declared via the e-CDF.

Exceptions to this limit include purposes such as testing money machines, numismatics, and currency awareness.

The BSP urges all travelers to comply with these regulations to ensure smooth international travel clearance.
