The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) received the “Best Systemic and Prudential Regulator in Asia Pacific” award for 2020 from the Asian Banker during a virtual awarding ceremony today.

The Governor said, “I share this honor with the BSP’s 5,500-strong workforce. This award is a testament to their commitment to our mandates all in pursuit of uplifting the quality of life for all Filipinos.”
Banking intelligence provider Asian Banker evaluates the achievements of central banks and financial services regulators in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. According to Asian Banker, this year’s awards are aimed at assessing the performance of said central banks and financial regulators during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The BSP was among the central banks in the world which swiftly responded to the crisis through the deployment of a comprehensive set of measures,” said Governor Diokno.
“The BSP continues to be front and center of the Philippines’ COVID-19 economic response by ensuring ample liquidity in the financial system, providing regulatory relief to banks and implementing policies to assist Filipino businesses and households weather and recover from the crisis,” he added.
