BSP signs MOUs with ADMU, UPLB

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) signed today separate memoranda of understanding (MOUs) on research collaboration with Ateneo de Manila University and University of the Philippines Los Baños.

“Research is a vital tool for pursuing the BSP’s mandate of maintaining price and monetary stability. With the MOUs, the central bank recognizes the importance of enhancing our institutional collaboration and intellectual exchanges to further strengthen our research capabilities,” said BSP Governor Benjamin E. Diokno

The MOUs cover sharing of data and resources, co-authorships, joint publications, sponsorships of conferences and other research events where ongoing studies can be vetted critically in informal or innovative settings.

“We hope to achieve the level of objectivity and rigor of academics, and come up with evidence-based research for policy formulation and decisions. We also intend to explore emerging issues to help the BSP become more future ready,” the Governor explained.

The BSP has also formed research partnerships with the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, UP School of Economics – Philippine Center for Economic Development, Agricultural Credit and Policy Council, and the Philippine-American Educational Foundation – Fulbright.
