The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) shall continuously leverage on advancements in information technology and data analytics to enhance its statistics in terms of coverage, granularity and timeliness, BSP Governor Benjamin E. Diokno said during the closing rites of the 32nd National Statistics Month (NSM) held Oct 29, 2021.
In collaboration with the Philippine Statistics Authority, BSP hosted the closing ceremonies of the NSM which was themed, “Revving up for Economic and Social Recovery Through Evidence-Based Policies.”
As part of the month-long activities for NSM, the BSP conducted a virtual Public Information Campaign on BSP-Produced Statistics for the second consecutive year amid the pandemic.
Subject matter experts from the BSP’s Department of Economic Statistics discussed critical economic and financial data including Foreign Direct Investments, Consumer Finance Survey, and Confidence Indices.
“Through these activities, we hope to gain public support for the continued enhancement of the country’s statistical system, especially amidst the uncharted challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Governor Diokno said.
The virtual platform sought to raise awareness on the crucial role of accurate, relevant, and timely data in the development of policies and the shaping of a society.
The celebration of the NSM is held every October pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 dated Sept 20, 1990.
