BACOLOD CITY – Police are investigating the motive behind the killing of a businessman who was gunned down in the parking lot of his establishment in Barangay 40 on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Michael Garcia, 39, owned a computer store and was a resident of the same barangay.

Police Capt. Peter John Ramos, head of Police Station 6, said Garcia was standing outside his store when two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle entered the parking lot around 3:30 p.m.

The back rider allegedly shot Garcia, hitting him in the shoulder, chest, and back. He was declared dead at a hospital, Ramos said.

The suspects, both wearing helmets and jackets, fled the scene after the attack.

Police recovered pieces of evidence at the crime scene, which are being processed by the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), according to Ramos.

Ramos said the victim’s family has not provided any information as they are still in shock.

Investigators are considering the possibility that the crime could be business-related. Ramos said they are verifying details about Garcia’s other business ventures as part of the ongoing investigation.
