Cabanbanan wins Himaya Festival Dance championship

BACOLOD CITY – Brgy. Cabanbanan clinched the championship and 100,000 pesos in the Himaya Festival Street and Arena Dance Competition at the Himamaylan National High School Grandstand in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on April 7.

The winning barangay also secured 20,000 pesos for the Most Supportive Group and Best Production Design, outperforming 16 other barangays in the festival’s dance competition.

Brgy. Nabalian was named the first runner-up, receiving 50,000 pesos; Mambagaton came in as the second runner-up with 30,000 pesos; and To-oy followed as the third runner-up, awarded 20,000 pesos.

Additionally, Brgy. Nabalian won an extra 35,000 pesos for capturing three special awards, including Best Choreography, Best Street Dance, and Best in Costume.

Brgy. Aguisan was honored for the Best Concept, which came with a 10,000 peso prize.

City Mayor Raymund Tongson expressed his gratitude to all 17 participating barangays in the festival’s dance competition and shared his hopes for an even more spectacular event next year.

The list of competing barangays also included San Antonio, Buenavista, Carabalan, Poblacion-II, Sara-et, Su-ay, Talaban, Caradio-an, Poblacion-III, Poblacion-IV, Cabadiangan, and Poblacion-I.
