The 38-year-old Cadiz City Public Library (CCPL) has been reimagined and upgraded to stay relevant in the digital age.

Following its transformation from a single-story building to a modern three-story, glass-covered facility, CCPL has evolved from a traditional library into an innovative learning hub.

Compared to its first renovation in 2001, the 2025 upgrade reflects a forward-thinking approach to education and community engagement.

Beyond its collection of traditional books, the library now houses digital laboratories and robotics kits.

Its fully operational e-library offers access to digital research tools and internet-connected computers—resources especially useful for learners without personal devices.

The space welcomes everyone—regardless of age, tech-savviness or reading preference—to read, research or explore robotics.

“This is for Cadizeños,” said Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr.

“This is for everyone who wants to expand their knowledge—whether through reading printed books or by letting their fingertips browse digital screens to discover the world.”

Escalante said the city’s investment in upgrading the library reflects its ongoing mission to secure a better future for its people through relevant, modern initiatives.

City Librarian Angel Mae Puyos said CCPL now serves a greater purpose.

“It’s a symbol and a reminder that no matter how advanced our technology becomes, the foundation of learning will always be rooted in knowledge, perseverance and curiosity,” she said.

With the local government’s commitment to promote a love for reading, the library is not just a facility built in 1987 and rebuilt in 2001.

It has been fully reimagined in 2025.

In an era when screens have overtaken printed pages and libraries elsewhere face closure, CCPL stands firm in its mission.

“What a noteworthy mission to accomplish—reimagining CCPL amid digital evolution,” said Escalante.

“For the sake of Cadizeños’ will to better their future, the city government will never rest in innovating or creating relevant investments that aim to boost everyone’s knowledge and make them techy and future-ready,” he added.
