PILAR, CAPIZ – A 40-year-old businessman was arrested after authorities seized suspected illegal drugs and an unlicensed firearm during a police raid on June 13 in Barangay Casanayan, Pilar.
Police identified the suspect only as alias Eldie.
The operation was conducted by personnel from the Pilar Municipal Police Station by virtue of Search Warrant No. 32-2025 for violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
The search warrant was issued on June 10 by Judge Lorencito B. Diaz of the 6th Regional Trial Court, Branch 17, in Roxas City, Capiz.
Authorities recovered 10 plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 70 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP476,000.
Police also found nine sachets of dried marijuana leaves weighing about 20 grams.
In addition, a homemade 12-gauge pistolized break-type shotgun was confiscated from the suspect’s home.
Staff Sgt. Herbert dela Vega, the Pilar police investigator, said Eldie had no prior criminal record.
The raid followed multiple complaints alleging Eldie’s involvement in illegal drug trading and possession of an unregistered firearm.
Eldie is currently detained and will face charges for violating RA 9165 and RA 10591.
