ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved on March 23, 2021 the “Province of Capiz Real Property Tax Amnesty of 2020”.
The present condition brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the financial standing of real property taxpayers with the possibility of long-term economic repercussions.
The Real Property Tax Amnesty is seen as a respite for real property owners.
“We need compassion during these times, especially with the prevailing situation,” said Board Member Victor L. Tanco, Jr., who is the main author of the provincial ordinance.
“All of us are severely affected by the pandemic, no one is spared. We must continue to provide benevolence in our service, or in our term, pag-ulikid, and granting a real property tax amnesty is just one way for them to breathe a sigh of relief,” Tanco added.
The Province of Capiz Real Property Tax (RPT) Amnesty of 2020 (Ordinance No. 271, series of 2021) includes the condonation of all accrued penalties, interests, and surcharges from December 31, 2020 and prior years on delinquent Real Property Taxes.
Taxpayers are encouraged to accomplish the amnesty application form and pay the delinquent real property taxes either in full or by instalment on or before June 30, 2021.
The RPT Amnesty, however, does not cover delinquent real property, which has been levied and subjected to public auction sale for non-payment of real property taxes; real property subject to pending cases; and/or litigation and all properties pending expropriation.
Taxpayers are advised to pay their dues to their respective municipal treasurer offices or may contact the Capiz Provincial Treasurer’s Office through telephone number 036 6210042 local 137 for more questions regarding the local law.
