ROXAS City – The Capiz provincial government is aiming to vaccinate 70 percent of the eligible population before the year ends to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.
Capiz Governor Esteban Evan “Nonoy” Contreras set the target during the launching of the COVID-19 Vaccination for the A3 Pediatric Population (minors 12 to 17 years old) on Nov 4.
Contreras said 550,518 doses of COVID-19 vaccines that were received by the provincial government have yet to be administered because of the slow vaccination rollout of some local governments (LGU).
The vaccines are presently stocked in the cold chain storage facility of the Provincial Health Office.
The governor has asked the LGUs to purchase their respective ultra-low freezer for their vaccines.
Meanwhile, the City Health Office noted the diminishing number of COVID-19 cases in Roxas City.
At present, there are 82 active COVID-19 cases here after 11 cases logged on Nov 4.
The city has 4,752 confirmed cases including 4,492 recoveries and 178 deaths.
On the other hand, the vaccination of “walk in” vaccinees 18 years old and above in the different vaccination posts in Roxas City was successful on Nov 4.
Persons who would like to avail of the vaccination program are advised to visit the vaccination sites located at Pueblo Market, CPC-Boulevard Campus, Robinsons Mall and City Mall-Avenue.
They are advised to bring their identification cards to prove that they are residents of Roxas City or working and studying here.
