ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Capiz Rehabilitation Center (CRC) in Brgy. Lawaan here was placed under lockdown after an inmate tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Provincial Administrator Dr Edwin Chinel Monares said the inmate was isolated in a hut inside the CRC.

The CRC personnel who serve food to the inmates wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent contamination.

Visitation was also cancelled for now.

Meanwhile, two more inmates of the Jamindan Municipal Police Station in Jamindan, Capiz were also positive for COVID-19.

Police Major Cheryl Visto, Jamindan police chief, said the two inmates were arrested and detained for acts of lasciviousness filed against them last April 8, 2021.

On Friday, they underwent swab test before they can be transferred to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) isolation facility in Dumalag, Capiz.

Vista said three police officers who were close contacts of the inmates are under home quarantine.
