Capiz police nab two in illegal firearms crackdown

Two individuals were apprehended in separate firearms raids in Capiz province.

Police detained a 41-year-old known as Ikol from Barangay Dolores, Dumalag town, and a 37-year-old known as Anthony from Barangay Bunga, Mambusao.

Ikol’s residence was searched around 12:45 p.m. on April 23 by members of the Dumalag Municipal Police Station, the 2nd Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6.

The operation was backed by Search Warrant No. 41-04-2024, issued by Judge Judith D. Orendain-Tonogbanua of the Regional Trial Court-6 Branch 20, Mambusao, Capiz, on April 17, 2024.

Authorities seized a homemade .38 caliber revolver with two rounds of ammunition. Ikol is allegedly linked to a shooting incident from October 2023 and has multiple barangay records for illegal firearm discharge.

In a related crackdown, Anthony’s residence was searched around 8 a.m. on April 24 by members of the Mambusao Municipal Police Station and the 2nd CPMFC, acting on Search Warrant No. 40-40-2024, also issued by Judge Orendain-Tonogbanua.

Police recovered another homemade .38 caliber revolver.

Both suspects are now in custody and face charges under Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
