ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 14-year-old boy was confirmed as the first dengue-related fatality in Capiz this year.

Joeffrey Espiritu, Department of Health public information officer in Capiz, said the victim was a student from Barangay Esperanza, Jamindan, who died in the last week of February after experiencing dengue symptoms.

Espiritu reported that the Department of Health has recorded 451 dengue cases in the province so far in 2025.

The figure marks a 64.60 percent increase compared to the 274 cases reported during the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office continues to urge the public to follow the 4S strategy against dengue: Search and destroy mosquito-breeding sites, Secure self-protection, Seek early consultation and Say yes to fogging.
