A 25-year-old carpenter from Tigbauan, Iloilo was arrested evening of Jan. 29 months after he was placed under monitoring.

James Harry Torres, a resident of Barangay Tanpael, Tigbauan, Iloilo, was collared in a police anti-narcotics operation after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P6,500.

When he was frisked, police seized eight more sachets and other non-drug items from his possession.

Captain Jorge Lenantud, Tigbauan police chief, said the seized drugs weighed around 20 grams and were valued at P136,000.

Torres was subjected to several test buy operations before the actual sting.

The suspect did not talk about his source but claimed that it was just delivered to him from Iloilo City.

While Torres admitted that he was into drug peddling, he denied that he was into illegal drug use.

Torres had no previous drug-related arrest.

The suspect is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
