Cascolan makes first visit in Iloilo as PNP chief

General Camilo Cascolan made his first command visit to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) headquarters in Iloilo City since he assumed the top Philippine National Police (PNP) post.

Cascolan used to be PRO-6 deputy regional director for administration (DRDA) in 2016.

In one of the programs, the PNP’s top cop went down memory lane as recalled his assignments and duties when he was still a young first lieutenant.

In a mix of Hiligaynon, Tagalog, and English, Cascolan delivered his message outlining his 9-point agenda (Bayanihan Spirit) during the ceremonial signing of the deed of donations for the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) future headquarters.

He is one of the principals in the ceremonial signing with Mayor Stephen Palmares.

They both witnessed the inaugural flag raising ceremony at the proposed IPPO headquarters in Barangay Sablogon, Passi City.

He also attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the police commissioned officers (PCO) barracks.

Cascolan also witnessed the ceremonial distribution of additional benefits for rebel returnees under the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

He, likewise, awarded Medalya ng Kagalingan to twelve deserving PRO-6 personnel for their outstanding operational accomplishment for displaying the exemplary performance amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Cascolan’s visit was also an opportunity for the PRO-6 hierarchy to present the accomplishments in “Birada Semana,” food bank, Tokhang Kontra Armas Luthang (TKAL), and Joint Focus Legal Action Team (JFLAT).

A program unique to PRO-6, Birada Semana is a special weeklong activity on focused police operations.

The program led to the arrest of 89 most wanted persons and 766 other wanted persons.

During the program implementation, 201 drug operations were conducted which led to the arrest of 389 drug suspects.

There were also 196 anti-illegal gambling operations that resulted to the arrest of 743 operations.

On the other hand, Western Visayas policemen did 61 operations on loose firearms that led to the arrest of 53 individuals and the confiscation of 64 firearms and three explosives.

Also, 604 firearms and 48 explosives were surrendered to different police units in the region.

From June 27 to October 12, 2020, the TKAL campaign yielded 1,252 firearms, which were deposited in different police units regionwide while 544 firearms were confiscated.

The PRO-6 Food Banks also collected 1,099 sacks of rice, 210 boxes of noodles, 161 boxes of canned goods, 617 packs of coffee, 14 gallons of alcohol, 26 boxes of face masks, 141 pieces of face shields, 3 sets of PPEs, vitamins, disinfectants and other assorted products from donors all over the region.
