For several months now, Johnriel Casimero has been keeping himself ready for any potential opponent.
That opponent turned out to be undefeated Ghanian boxer Duke Micah.
Casimero was earlier slated to fight Naoya Inoue but negotiations of the highly-anticipated fight broke down forcing Casimero’s camp to look for other foes.
Holding an impressive record of 24 professional wins with 19 coming from way of knockout, Micah’s knockout rate tagged him to be one of the deadliest punchers in the bantamweight division.
However, the 79.17 % knockout rate of the Ghanian fighter did not bother Casimero, sharing that this situation isn’t new to him after defeating power punchers to defend his WBO bantamweight crown numerous times.
According to Filipino boxing legend Gerry Peñalosa, Micah is an easier fight for Casimero compared to Inoue and he expects a convincing win from the Filipino.
“Micah is an easy fight for Casimero compared to Naoya Inoue. I expect a knockout. But Casimero must also be careful,” said Peñalosa.
The undefeated Ghanian is a former 2012 London Olympian and believes that his fighting style will take Casimero out of his comfort zone inside the ring.
Micah will try to do just that in their clash on Septmeber 26 (Sunday, September 27, Manila time.)
