BACOLOD City – The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) here is probing the death of one of its linemen who was electrocuted while working in Talisay City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Ceneco announced on its Facebook page on Monday the death of Regie Austria of E.B. Magalona town who was assigned to Ceneco’s Talisay Field Office.
Austria and his co-worker responded to a report of power interruption at Hacienda Sta. Maria 1, Barangay Zone 15.
Austria was the one who climbed the electrical pole to repair the insulator when he touched the electrical wire used in an alleged illegal connection or jumper.
He fell from the electrical pole and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Ceneco acting general manager Dan Pondevilla said the incident is under investigation as they are still completing the documents.
The Ceneco management expressed their condolences to the victim’s family.
They recognized and thanked Austria’s relentless service to member-consumers.
