Challenges on Covid-19 decision-2

By Modesto P. Sa-onoy

Let’s proceed with our discussion on the serious questions regarding what many believe is the “manipulation” of the present pandemic to serve special interests.

However, before that let us consider these newsbreaks last September 11 and September 18 which are directly related to our subject.

The September 11 report is very long but for ordinary people the conclusions are sufficient. According to this report, “many countries either adopted or declined early treatment with HCQ, effectively formed a large trial with a 1.8 billion people in the treatment group and 663 million in the control group. Conclusion: the treatment group has a 74.9% lower death rate. Some who died had other illnesses. The Philippines is not included in this study.

The September 18 news report of the Philippine Star says that a group composed of about 5,000 doctors and concerned citizens are proposing the use of HCQ as prophylaxis that would make quarantine and lockdowns unnecessary. Led by former DoH Secretary Galvez-Tan, they said they prescribed HCQ and it worked under doctor’s guidance. The group will present its position to the President.

This is what we had been writing about – HCQ works if used properly just like any other tool or medicine. The doctors’ proposition will not place their patients in jeopardy. It will save the country from the terrible situation of choosing between lives or the economy because HCQ can save both.

On the other hand, last Friday a local doctor said in a radio interview that the HCQ can lead to cardiac arrest. This repeats the allegation of the Lancet article that was already debunked. The publication of that fraudulent study had prevented and will continue to prevent the use of HCQ at the cost of human lives.

Let us continue with the open letter on August 12, 2020 by Drs.  George Fareed and Donald Pompan of California and Michael Jacobs of Florida posed to Dr. Anthony Fauci who had already been shunted aside by President Donald Trump for his “many mistakes.”

The three physicians criticized Fauci whose “opinions have influenced the thinking of physicians and their patients, medical boards, state and federal agencies, pharmacists, hospitals, and just about everyone involved in medical decision making.” That includes the Philippine health authorities that took their cue from Fauci and the World Health Organization.

“Indeed”, the letter continues, “your opinions impacted the health of Americans, and many aspects of our day-to-day lives including employment and school. Those of us who prescribe hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and azithromycin/doxycycline believe fervently that early outpatient use would save tens of thousands of lives and enable our country to dramatically alter the response to COVID-19. We advocate for an approach that will reduce fear and allow Americans to get their lives back.”

We echo the same sentiments and as the Philstar news of September 18, so do our Filipino doctors who are now asking the government to reconsider its policies rather than just follow the Fauci-WHO generated protocols.

To put Fauci on the defensive, the three American doctors raised fifty-two questions with additional unnumbered inquiries. The intent of the questions is “to compel you (Fauci) to reconsider your current approach to COVID-19 infection.”

Of course, Fauci is no longer by the side of the US President but still carries clout in the US and other WHO client nations; he has still influence especially with his colleagues at the WHO.

The statements of the doctors are presented in question form with a challenge to Fauci to deny or admit the assumptions. The questions are like traps. If Fauci answered “yes” he has to justify why he did not act accordingly; if he said “no”, he would be asked to also explain why he acted without sufficient research.

Most of the questions are highly technical that we leave them to the doctors to study. Thus our citations will be limited, sufficient to establish an intelligent conclusion.

The three doctors claim that physicians are successfully using Hydroxychloroquine combined with Zinc and Azithromycin as a “cocktail” for early outpatient treatment of symptomatic, high-risk, individuals. They challenged Fauci to deny knowledge of this. Whatever is Fauci’s answer, he would be in trouble.

They also asked Fauci if he had heard of the “Zelenko Protocol”. What is this protocol? We’ll continue tomorrow.
