The Chery Tiggo Crossovers are near reaching their deadliest form after keeping their winning streak alive in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on March 26, 2024, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
After back-to-back grueling wins over the Creamline Cool Smashers and the Petro Gazz Angels, the Crossovers extended its winning streak to three after taking down the NXLED Chameleons, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-20.
It was an uncharacteristic opening set for Chery Tiggo after they committed tons of costly unforced errors which NXLED capitalized on helping them take an early 1-0 lead.
From a series of miscommunications in their set plays to letting the Chameleons score tons of free balls from scratch, Chery Tiggo head coach Kung Fu Reyes had enough and woke up his wards heading into the second set.
After the wake-up call during the huddle, the Crossovers suddenly flipped the switch and played their best volleyball, bullying the Chameleons with their well-executed 1-2 quick plays.
Aside from their quick setter-middle blocker plays, the Crossovers slowly varied their offensive executions and involved their opposite hitters to score points from the cross-court kills.
As the match was tied at 1-1, Chery Tiggo just sustained their momentum and didn’t let the match slip away out of their hands.
With everything clicking for the Crossovers, the hottest team in the PVL right now scored a successful reverse sweep to improve their record to five wins and two losses.
Mylene Paat led the Chery Tiggo attack with 15 big points despite coming off the bench. Backstopping her was Eya Laure who dropped 12 points.
“For today’s game, nag-respond sila sa kung ano ‘yung intentions ng coaches. Happy kami kasi lumabas kahit papaano ‘yung mga ine-ensayo naming, though hindi naman lahat nandoon, at least merong lumalabas,” said Chery Tiggo head coach Reyes.
