BACOLOD City – The City Health Office (CHO) here is encouraging parents to
prioritize the immunization of their children from vaccine preventable diseases through the Department of Health (DOH) nationwide Measles-Rubella-btvalent Oral Poliomyelitis Vaccine (MR-bOPY) Supplemental Immunization Activity (SIA) on May 1 to 31.
Dubbed “Chikiting Ligtas sa dagdag bakuna kontra Polio, Rubella at Tigdas,” the activity is in cooperation with Healthy Pilipinas, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Jamaica Gail Isidto, Sanitation Inspector IV and Health Education and Promotion Officer (HEPO)-CHO, said the main objective of the activity is the elimination of these vaccine preventable diseases and prevention of an outbreak.
Isidto said the target is 95 percent of all children aged 0-59 months for polio and 9-59 months for measles and rubella.
She said they are eyeing to immunize 58,394 children for polio, and 50,081 children for MR from 61 barangays here.
The CHO started its month-long advocacy or campaign to achieve this target, through recorida, radio, and social media platform.
