The struggles of the Choco Mucho volleyball team continued after bowing to Thailand’s Supreme Chonburi in straight sets, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21, in the 2021 Asian Club Volleyball Championships.
Chemistry is still the biggest issue for the newly formed team as miscommunications and unforced errors plagued them throughout the three-setter.
The ever-reliable and national team staple Mylene Paat tried to keep the Philippines within striking distance but the firepower of the Thais proved to be too much to handle.
After a disappointing first set, the Filipina spikers bounced back in the next two sets and had their chances to pull away.
As Choco Mucho was looking to pile up their points, Chonburi’s Malika Kanthong went on a personal offensive run that ballooned their lead once again.
In the third set, Iris Tolenada and Kalei Mau provided the much-needed offensive spark that Choco Mucho needed but it wasn’t enough to stage a comeback against the star-studded Thai team.
With the loss, Choco Mucho was relegated to the classification round together with the other PH representative, the Rebisco volleyball squad.
