The Cignal HD Spikers asserted their mastery over the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-14, 25-16, 25-17, in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on March 2, 2024, at the Philsports Arena.
With another convincing victory, the HD Spikers just extended its untainted record to two wins and joined the Choco Mucho Flying Titans and the Creamline Cool Smashers as the only undefeated teams in the tournament.
Cignal picked up where they left off after a morale-boosting win over the Akari Chargers during their first game of the conference. After a fiery offensive start, the HD Spikers never looked back and continued its daunting attack until the third and final set.
Turning back the hands of time was veteran outside hitter Ces Molina who top-scored for the HD Spikers with a game-high 14-point performance built from 12 successful attacks.
Aside from her offensive explosion, the former Philippine national team staple attacker netted six excellent receptions, five excellent digs, and two service aces.
The HD Spikers immediately went to their locker room leader after converting her first three attacks, feeding her with her desired looks that caused tons of trouble for the Highrisers.
Gel Cayuna, Cignal’s premier setter, also did a good job orchestrating their attack after tallying 15 excellent sets and four points.
Vanie Gandler only played two sets for the HD Spikers but still produced seven markers while Jovelyn “The Bionic Ilongga” added six points in the win.
“I think ‘yung performance namin, we gave our best today. Nakaka-proud sa mga teammates ko kasi kahit sino naman ang ipasok mo talagang nagco-contribute. So happy lang na naka-straight sets kami today,” said Molina.
The HD Spikers will gun for their third straight win of the PVL All-Filipino Conference on March 7, 2024, as they square off against the NXLED Chameleons.
