The Iloilo City government banned the use of videoke machines and conduct of activities that would cause or tend to cause unnecessary noises that might disturb the classes of the students as they embrace the new modes of learning.
Mayor Jerry Treñas issued Executive Order (EO) No. 164 on Oct 9, 2020 regulating the use of videoke machines or conduct of any activity tending to create unnecessary noise that might affect the current schooling settings of students.
Under the EO, the use of videoke machines or conduct of any activities that would cause or tend to cause unnecessary noises that would disturb the students in their study at home shall be prohibited from Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The order took effect on Saturday, October 10.
Meanwhile, vehicle owners were advised to avoid the unnecessary blowing of their car horns during school hours from 7 am to 5 pm during weekdays.
Likewise, the order also mandated establishments conducting commercial and industrial activities to minimize unnecessary noise during school hours.
The mayor has also instructed local barangay officials to coordinate with the Philippine National Police to strictly apprehend and monitor gambling activities in the metro.
Authorities shall also strictly monitor and prevent mass gatherings like drinking sprees.
Last week, more than 1.7 million learners enrolled in public schools in Western Visayas started their classes under new learning modalities.
According to the Department of Education in Western Visayas (DepEd) 6, more than one million learners in Western Visayas have opted for the modular learning modality rather than online, blended, and television-based and radio-based.
Under the modular learning instruction materials in the form of modules are prepared by the teachers. The modules which contain exercises and assignments will be turned-over to the parents or representatives which will eventually deliver the modules to their children. (ERS)
