The Iloilo City government has urged the public to use only accredited diagnostic clinical laboratories and report non-accredited facilities amid rising concerns over fake or inaccurate test results that could endanger public health.
Mayor Jerry Treñas issued Executive Order No. 35 on Monday, April 14, which lists all accredited and fully compliant diagnostic laboratories operating in the city.
The order followed a March 28 directive that created a clinical laboratory inspection task force mandated to inspect all diagnostic laboratories in Iloilo City.
The task force conducted citywide ocular inspections from March 28 to April 4.
“There are so many reports that results are released, but no specimens were collected, or other specimens were used,” Treñas said in an interview Monday.
“It will not be safe, and it will not be fair for everyone.”
The task force is led by the City Health Office (CHO) and includes representatives from the Business Processing and Licensing Office, General Services Office, Environment and Natural Resources Office, and the Department of Health (DOH).
Their primary role is to ensure all laboratories meet regulatory requirements, including licenses to operate, sanitary permits, and business permits.
According to EO 35, laboratories not listed as accredited were found to have incomplete or missing documentation, licenses, or permits.
The order listed a total of 42 accredited clinical laboratories in the following districts:
