Stricter protocols will be implemented at the Iloilo Terminal Market in City Proper, Iloilo City to target those who fail to practice physical distancing.

According to Mayor Jerry Treñas, he tasked the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) and Philippine National Police (PNP) to oversee the strict implementation of social distancing, wearing of face masks, and other quarantine protocols at “Super” or Iloilo Terminal Market.

Nakita ko sa post nga daw waay gid nagaobserve sang social distancing kag waay nagawear sang mask ang mga tawo sa Super. May instruction na ako sa PSTMO and PNP na aregluhon ang Super kag iplastar maayo,” he said in a press conference on Tuesday.

The Iloilo Terminal Market has been temporarily closed for massive sanitation and cleaning drive.

Masyado gid ka higko ang aton Terminal Market kay wala gid matinluan for the longest time so what we are going to do is after finishing the cleaning, abrehan liwat naton but the area will have wider spaces between the vendors,” the mayor said.

Meanwhile, PSTMO head Jeck Conlu said they will restrict the entry of vehicles to Super starting today, April 8, 2020.

Vehicles will be prohibited from entering the streets surrounding Super particularly De Leon St., Mabini St. and Fuentes St, Conlu said.

Una ang aton nga palibot nga karsada except Rizal mahimo nga ‘no vehicle zone. Wala salakyan maka-agi dira kag tanan da nga entry siradhan namon,” he said in a media interview on Tuesday.

At the same time, people entering Super will be required to wear face masks.

Quarantine passes should also be presented upon entering the market and physical distancing should be observed, Conlu added.
