City to ask for additional schools as quarantine areas

BACOLOD City – Councilor Renecito Novero is requesting for four additional schools that can accommodate about 540 persons in one cycle.

Novero said this is in preparation for the arrival of Locally Stranded Individuals from Manila.

Novero, chairman of the Quarantine Center Action Team said, the city currently has eight schools that can accommodate about 500 LSIs.

He said the city government will also ask the approval of the Department of Education (DepEd) for the use of four additional schools.

They will also ask for the extension of the use of all schools as quarantine facilities even after June 30.

Meanwhile Novero said that LSIs or passengers from within Western Visayas do not have to undergo swab tests.

They will also not be required to be quarantined, he said.

“It is the reciprocal arrangement between the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.”

LSIs will be allowed home quarantine for 14 days if they are asymptomatic.

But they will be subjected to strict monitoring of Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs).

A notice will be placed outside their homes to remind and caution the community that they are under home quarantine.
