BACOLOD CITY The family of a third-year college student is seeking justice after she died in a hit-and-run in Barangay Magallon Cadre, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday.

The Central Philippines State University (CPSU)-Moises Padilla Campus confirmed the death of 22-year-old Deserie Tadena in a Facebook post on Thursday.

According to reports, Tadena was sitting on a motorcycle parked by her uncle on the roadside when a passing motorcycle struck her, causing her fatal injuries.

Police Major Romulo Gepilango, chief of the Moises Padilla police, said the family has yet to formally report the incident.

Vice Mayor Ian Villaflor, who responded to the accident, urged the motorcycle rider involved to surrender. He also called on residents to provide any information that could help identify the suspect.

The university extended its condolences to Tadena’s family, friends, and loved ones, expressing hope that justice will be served.

“Within the institution’s portals, she inspired many of her peers and teachers and will be remembered by those with whom she shared her journey,” CPSU said in a statement.
