The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Kalibo on Monday opened the voter registration ahead of the 2025 national and local elections.

Kalibonhons have until September 30, 2024, to register as voters for the 2025 midterm elections.

Atty. Christian Iltulid reminded the applicants to present their valid government-issued IDs.

“Please do come early to avoid stampede and do not wait the last day for registration, to transfer, and further correct details,” said Itulid.

He added that students must bring their School ID or Library Card with the signatures of their school authorities.

The ID must contain his/her complete name, address, picture, and signature, while those who don’t have a valid ID can present a barangay ID from their respective barangays.

Meanwhile, the COMELEC Kalibo office had at least sign-ups with just over 4,474 registrations.

The COMELEC aims to increase the number of registered voters by three million, which will increase the voting population from 68 million to 71 million for the midterm elections next year.

The poll body announced on its official social media channel that the COMELEC’s offices will be open from Mondays to Saturdays, except for holidays, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
