More acts of kindness were seen online and elsewhere as Ilonggos band together to fight the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19).
Community kitchens in Iloilo City barangays with daycare facilities kicked off March 21 using donated goods. Vulnerable sector like jeepney drivers were provided food assistance.
Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-6 Employees Cooperative distributes 44 rice packs to trisikad drivers at Barangay Magsaysay Village in La Paz. This is part of the office community outreach and helping out program in response to the enhanced community quarantine imposed in Iloilo City.
The following have pledged donations to Iloilo City since March 20, 2020
- P1-million worth of rice and canned goods and noodles from Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Iloilo, Inc. and Hua Siong College of Iloilo Board of Trustees
- 250 sacks of rice; 100 cartons noodles; 30 cartons canned sardines from Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce Inc. Panay Chapter
- Iloilo Supermart and the Que family donated P1,000,000 which will be used for the immediate needs of the isolation center of the city, the requirements of the community kitchen, and other immediate requirements for the city to respond to the disaster.
- Iloilo Bankers Association plans to distribute ASAP 800 drums and chlorine to brgys so they can make sanitizing solution for distribution to brgys using empty bottles. This is to minimize spread of disease as there’s a shortage of sanitizers. They will coordinate with local health officer and Liga President Irene Ong
- VIKINGS served 200 pax to hospitals yesterday March 19. As of today March 20, a total of 100 packs set meals were distributed to City Hall, Don Benito hospital, Medical City hospital and Capitol. They will continue tomorrow March 21.
