BACOLOD CITY – An electrical technician surrendered to the police hours after allegedly killing a construction worker due to a misunderstanding in Barangay Handumanan on Wednesday night.

Police identified the victim as Richie Castro, 46, of the said village.

Police Captain Lelanie Lagoting, head of Police Station 10, reported that Castro went to the house of his former live-in partner to pacify a commotion between her and the 42-year-old suspect, identified as “Ciloy.”

Lagoting explained that the suspect was also a former lover of the victim’s ex-partner. The suspect visited the house to discuss their child, but an argument ensued.

Castro’s child, concerned for his pregnant mother, called for his help.

Lagoting said the victim and the suspect engaged in a fistfight, followed by a brief chase. The suspect allegedly went home, retrieved a metal scissors cutter, and struck the victim in the left ear, resulting in his death. The suspect fled but later turned himself in to the police.

Lagoting stated that homicide charges would be filed against the suspect, who is now in police custody.
