Construction worker kills co-worker

BACOLOD City – A construction worker was found dead at Purok 3, Barangay Tan-awan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Monday.

The victim was identified as Ricky Figueroa, 37, of the said village.

Police Lieutenant Colonel John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, said that Figueroa was allegedly stabbed by his co-worker identified as Regie Reyes following a misunderstanding in a dance hall during a barangay fiesta on Sunday night.

Batusbatusan said that a witness saw Reyes allegedly chasing the victim from the dance hall.

The following day, the victim was found with stab wounds and was declared dead in a hospital.

Police are looking into grudges as the motive in the incident.

Batusbatusan said the suspect reportedly has a case in Himamaylan City and an arrest warrant. However, he is not privy to the said cases.

Reyes is at large, according to the police.
