Construction worker shot dead

BACOLOD City – Police are verifying information on the alleged unpaid debts of a construction worker that could be linked to his death at Purok Ilaya, Barangay Cabug here last Saturday.

The victim was identified as Jury de la Cruz, 46, a native of Cauayan, Negros Occidental, but was also residing in Barangay Cabug.

Police Captain Michael Tuburan, head of Police Station 9, said the victim was outside his house when he was shot by an unidentified lone gunman in broad daylight.

De la Cruz suffered two gunshot wounds and passed away at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here a few hours after the incident happened, according to Tuburan.

Policemen recovered from the scene two bullets from an unknown firearm.

Tuburan said they already have a lead on the perpetrator.

“May info na may mga utang daw ni siya (victim) tapos wala niya gina bayran. Iverify ta pa,” the station commander said.
