BACOLOD CITY – A 19-year-old construction worker was stabbed to death by his foreman following a misunderstanding that arose from teasing at Villa Angela Subdivision Phase II in Barangay Vista Alegre here last Wednesday.
Police identified the victim as Ernest Jan Olminasan, 19, of Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
Police Captain Greeky Cayao, head of Police Station 7, reported that the victim was asleep when the foreman allegedly stabbed him in the chest before fleeing the scene.
Despite his injuries, the victim managed to call for help from his uncle and identified the suspect. He was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
According to Cayao, the incident may have been triggered by a playful tease directed at the foreman by the victim a day earlier. The foreman allegedly threatened the victim, but the warning was not taken seriously.
Early Wednesday morning, the suspect returned to their boarding house after attending a birthday party and attacked the victim, Cayao said.
Cayao also mentioned that the police have sought the assistance of the suspect’s family in Victorias City to encourage him to surrender.
Murder charges are set to be filed against the suspect, who remains at large.
