The Converge FiberXers added another gem to their already talented coaching staff after acquiring the services of former PBA two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) Willie Miller.
Miller’s arrival with the FiberXers was confirmed last November 7, 2023, after the team’s official announcement on their social media pages.
“We’re thrilled to have Willie Miller join our coaching staff at Converge FiberXers. His unparalleled experience and exceptional skills as a guard in the PBA will be a game-changer for our young talents,” said Converge team manager Jacob Lao.
Miller, who took the league by storm and reached his peak when he helped the now-defunct Alaska Aces franchise bag several PBA championship titles, will be returning to the PBA after eight years.
The crafty leftie guard won a total of four PBA trophies from 2001-2015 and was the Finals MVP during their 2002 and 2007 championship runs.
Known for his unique style of play and strength at the point guard position, Miller’s hard work was finally rewarded when he won the season MVP award last 2002 and 2007.
In his 11-year PBA career, Miller was named as an All-Star nine times and a three-time PBA Mythical First Team member.
After his last season in the PBA when he played for the TNT Tropang Giga, Miller played for several semi-pro leagues and even had short stints overseas.
Miller will be assisting Converge’s chief tactician Aldin Ayo in the staff together with Mc Jour Luib, Danny Ildefonso, Franco Atienza, and Karl Santos.
“With Coach Willie’s guidance, our guards are poised for remarkable growth and development,” added Lao.
